Billy Dodson - professional nature photographer

Billy Dodson first became interested in photography while on a mountain climbing trip to Tanzania in 2001.  He visited Africa for the first time as a photographer in 2005, and has since returned many times to pursue his passion.  His work has been published in magazines, newspapers, calendars and posters around the world.  Also a writer, Billy’s recent book, From Desert to Desert:  A Journey Through the Heart of Southern Africa, is a narrative and photographic tribute to the continent’s wildlife, landscapes and cultures.

Because the primary purpose of his work is conservation, he donates his images to the African Wildlife Foundation, the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and a number of similar organizations.  He is deeply committed to the protection and preservation of the continent’s animals and wilderness.

Billy currently resides in Williamsburg, Virginia, with his wife Cynthia.  Billy will be hosting photography workshops to the southern circuit.
